Three students with their robot.

On December 6th, 2025, our Muddy Boots 4-H Robotics Club made an outstanding debut at the Sumo-Bot competition in Seguin, TX. Led by Mr. Shumaker, a dedicated teacher, and Mr. Vance, an involved parent, the club sent two elementary teams and two SC Lee Junior High teams to compete among 38 registered teams. Our elementary students stood out by earning an impressive 4th place finish and receiving the Fighting Spirit Award for their determination and teamwork!

Mr. Shumaker shared, "They did really good for their first competition, this is a competition that has gone on for over 10 years, and they did really well. One team getting 4th place out of 38 teams all together."

This experience was a fantastic learning opportunity for both students and coaches, and we're excited for even stronger performances in future competitions.

Special thanks to Mrs. Ray, our Communities in Schools representative, who runs the Muddy Boots 4-H chapter at House Creek Elementary, for her leadership and support in making this program possible.
